Growing up, people used to say to me “You play basketball so much, you’re going to turn into a basketball.” At the time, I thought that was a brainless thing to say. But as I get a little older, I see the wisdom behind that thought.
We have all heard the phrase “You Are What You Eat.” This is a vague concept, but when you think about it, it holds true. In this sense, all diets should not be food related. For example; many people eat (watch) music videos, celebrity’s, pop culture – and that’s what they strive to become – those figures. Not saying all do, but I believe that the ones who do, that’s mostly all they eat (watch).
To lead our own lives, and not get sick – mentally, emotionally, and spiritually – we need balanced meals. I guess you can say: If you eat music videos, celebrity’s, and pop culture, you need to eat a little politics, cultural awareness, and spirituality too. In addition (youth especially), try a little side of self-sufficiency, and what it takes to become employable. We all need balanced meals; and should really think about how we occupy our time and what we consume.
With balanced meals, I believe, God will bless us with more than we’ve ever imagined. When God moves in our lives, that is when things get really good. Save room for dessert!
With God, nothing is impossible…
