I am blown away by Day 10’s reading. Embracing today’s title The Heart of Worship is Surrender, says that worship is great, fine, and dandy. But in order for it to be done right and effective, we must start by surrendering first; surrendering our lives to Christ – habits and all. The goal is to get in line with God and what He wants from us and furthermore what He wants to do through us.
Sometimes it takes years, but eventually you discover that the greatest hindrance to God’s blessing in your life is not others, it is yourself – your self-will, stubborn pride, and personal ambition.
To this end, we cannot fulfill God’s purposes for our lives while focusing on our own plans. It isn’t others fault when things don’t go the way we wanted them to. We first must get in line with God, and that is when we will find out if things are going the way they are supposed to go – according to His will – and not our own undersized wisdom.
The chapter also says that there are three barriers that block our total surrender to God: Fear, Pride, and Confusion. I plan to work on eliminating all three and focusing on God!
Ask Yourself: What area of my life am I holding back from God?
