Day 17, A Place to Belong, focuses on our relationship with other believers. First, I am blessed to have a good church home; a place to belong. I like how this chapter talked about the 5 things you can get in a church and how a church is the only location to get all six things:
A church family identifies you as a genuine believer.
A church family moves you out of self-centered isolation.
A church family helps you develop spiritual muscle.
The Body of Christ needs you.
You will share in Christ’s mission in the world.
A church family will help you keep from backsliding.
I also enjoyed how it states: The person who says “I don’t need church,” is either ignorant or arrogant.
Following Christ includes belonging, not just believing.
These two words, in my opinion, represent what so many of us are as it relates to the church. We are both ignorant of the true significance, and/or we are church goers, and are arrogant toward others as if we are better than them – thus not allowing us to have true fellowship. I now see, after this reading, that fellowship is the fuel for our spirits.
We discover our role in life through our relationships with others.
Ask Yourself: Does my level of involvement in my local church demonstrate that I love and am committed to God’s family?
